Chiropractic treatment is something that I grew up with and has been a very rewarding career choice.
I was blessed to have been treated with chiropractic care for numerous ailments throughout my childhood by my late father Dr.Joseph Kucan. However, it wasn’t until later in my teens that I noticed the power of chiropractic care when dealing with a disc injury from a summer job.
I obtained my BSc in Biology from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2001, and my doctorate in Chiropractic medicine from CMCC in 2005, and since have been practising in Hanover. I am extremely grateful for the 3 ½ years that I was an associate of my late father, practising along side him, being able to learn from him and his previous 30 years of chiropractic practice.
I strive to determine the true cause of patients ailments and not just treat symptoms.
I use treatments that are gentle, specific and time proven.
I enjoy treating patients of all ages and help their body heal themselves naturally.
I believe that education is paramount and continue to upgrade my training. I also strive to educate each and every one of my patients to know exactly what their problem is, so that they can play a active role in their own recovery process and understand how to prevent any reoccurrences.
I use X-ray evaluation if necessary and treat using gentle Chiropractic manipulation, both hands on and/or adjusting instrument. Electrical modalities available are Interferential Current, Tens, Ultrasound or Laser. I offer Nutritional counseling services and may recommend specific supplementation in your particular case.
I look forward to meeting you and would be happy to discuss how Chiropractic could change your life for the better.
Growing up, I always knew I wanted to work in health care. My dad was a Chiropractor and when I was a teenager, I spent my summers working for him, typing files and answering the phone. I saw the huge impact that he had on his patients’ lives and the satisfaction that he felt from helping people heal.
After finishing high school, I attended the University of Guelph and graduated with a Honours Degree in Biological Sciences. I then moved to Toronto to begin my study of Acupuncture at the Michener Institute in 1998. When I completed the four year program, I went to China to complete clinical internships at the Tianjin College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. I returned to my hometown of Hanover, Ontario in July 2002 and went into practice at the Kucan Chiropractic, Acupunture and Homeopathy Clinic, with my father.
I have continually upgraded my training through various courses in Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, diagnosis, dermatology, pediatrics, fertility and gynecology. I view my profession as a life-long learning process and credit my patients as my best teachers and daily source of inspiration.
I am passionate about Chinese Medicine and enjoy educating patients about the many benefits that it has to offer. I love seeing the surprise and relief on patients’ faces when they realize that acupuncture doesn't have to be painful! I use a variety of techniques including needle Acupuncture, auricular and laser therapy, moxibustion, cupping and herbs in my practice.
I am a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCMP) under the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO).
I would be happy to discuss your health concerns and how Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine could help you.
